The girls are very interested in squirrels who continuously frustrate them by climbing trees whenever the girls approach. In the park on Saturday morning, they asked their father to fix this situation, pronto! Their father called up to the squirrels, "hey mister, come down from the tree." We didn't get any satisfactory response and so headed home from lunch. Later that day ZZ and I returned to the park and she went directly to the tree where squirrel had hid last and found his bushy tail hanging down from a leafy branch--a tempting prize for this 2 year old. ZZ demanded that I pick her up and then proceeded to point her finger and call out, "hey mister, come down....mister, come down....mister, COME DOWN!" she then turned to me and said, "mama, mister not a good listener!" I told her she was absolutely right.

Later that same day Mimi and I took a walk down the avenue. Mimi turned to me and said, "mama, i think we need buy you something". Surprised, I asked her what she thought her mama needed and she said, "coffee." I told her she was absolutely right.

I love these conversations and look forward to Zain being able to communicate more, eh, precisely (she write as the baby screamed bloody murder from his crib)...
we have a whole stack of squirrels for chasing up at the house. some of them might even be living in the attic. tell those girls to pack their squirrel chasing bags and get on the road. guthrie wants me to mention he is an excellent assistant squirrel chaser.
ZZ is right, they are not good listeners. My dad also has squirrels in the attic and he periodically asks them to get out, to no avail. He sometimes tries to drive them out by blasting Cumbia, but unfortunately they appear to enjoy this genre and have become his lifelong roommates.
